Job Title General Foreman Job ID Number 12-6526 Company Electric Boat Location Groton, CT Job Category Aerospace/Aviation/Defense Job Description The successful candidate must manage up to five trade supervisors and sixty hourly employees, provide daily direction and technical assistance to his/her supervisors and hourly employees, manage the performance of their groups safety, quality, cost, schedule and continuous improvement. Candidate will oversee Rigging and crane operations for submarine construction, ship maintenance and/or repairs. He/She will be responsible for the administration and execution of their crafts work paper (i.e., work orders, TGIs, DLs, ERs, Unsats, Test Forms, etc.), support Area Superintendents where trade expertise is required, co-ordinate trade work assignments with Area Superintendents, support Ships meetings and be responsible for trade commitments, take responsibility for mentoring new foremen, be responsible for special tooling and fixtures associated with his/her craft, ensure the necessary training and qualifications are maintained for his/her foremen and hourly employees, support Operations Supervisors with labor issues, discipline, EEO and OSHA compliance. Candidate must be willing to work occasional off-shift and overtime to support production key events. The ideal candidate will have required Supervisor experience. Previous Operations trade management experience. Rigging Supervisor experience preferred. He/She must have excellent interpersonal skills and effective written and oral communications skills. Should possess detailed knowledge of Planning, Construction, and Test activities with a minimum of five years Nuclear and Radiological experience. Candidate must complete Nuclear Foreman Training Classes within six months of the start of this assignment. The candidate must have proficiency with the following: Computer skills - ATA, Lotus Notes, EWP, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Reading, writing and arithmetic are all basic skills necessary to interpret load charts, comprehend department instructions, special procedures and technical work documents.
